My story

My name is Maya Mor, and I wish to invite you to dive with me into my story of making my life-dream come true.

It all began while strolling on the beach on a grey winter day (the kind I love most) about a year and a half ago during the crazy COVID 19 pandemic. My eight years old daughter showed me what she found on the sand, something extraordinarily beautiful and yet unidentifiable. At first glance it seemed like a shell or a clam and smelled like a marine creature.

Few days later, in the same place, I found more of the same and also an omega shape rusty iron object. Highly excited, I grabbed them, and it was immediately clear to me what I was going to turn them into.

From this moment on, I was washed by a huge wave of creativity, erupting like a volcano awaiting its powerful burst.

I began to discover around me so many treasures from nature. It felt they were just lying around me awaiting for me to turn them into fascinating and special artifacts for home design. I was filled by a great feeling that the universe is with me wherever I turn.

As a young woman I got a BA degree in Social work and somehow, I found myself in the following 15 years working in the tourism industry organizing group trips and conferences.

So often before I feared my life is passing without my dream coming true, the dream of fulfilling myself. I looked up to the sky begging with tears. I told myself there is no way my life will pass without it.

And then it happened. I was on a leave from work. Suddenly I had plenty of time and tranquility for a deep breath to let out all that wonder, and the rest is history.

Today I can scream out loud that I made my life dream come true. I did so many things so far, they all reflected part of me, but none really freed my sincere and deep passion that was always related to my love to whatever is home design, and none really allowed me to express my real me. Currently I do what I love most and what I am best in, and interestingly, it allows all parts of my personality to find their expression.

I am now reconnected to the wonderful nature from which I draw so much inspiration. My art works are influenced by the soft and natural colors. I go out on treasure hunt journeys, my eyes are capturing the unique pieces around me and at that moment I imagine the beauty and potential in them and what a beautiful home décor works I can turn them into.

I was always attracted to the beauty in the old, the fading, where you can see its life long gone with scratches, defects, and yet accomplished character, the opposite of the perfect and manufactured.

My brand ‘Maya Mor’ reflects this love of mine. I give new life to those things thrown away by nature, those that are about to end their role in the universe on their way out.

I invite you to look at my art works made of natural materials I search around and discover in forests, creeks and beaches, and bring this unique art into your home.
